20 hours in Istanbul

This is the last stop of my summer trip! After 25 days travelling around the Balkans, I had to take my flight from Zagreb to Istanbul. I was flying with Turkish Airlines so I had to make a stop there before heading back to Buenos Aires. Therefore, I was able to spend 20 hours in this lovely city. I arrived in Istanbul at 1pm but Ataturk airport was really crowded that day so it took me a lot to do the passport control. At almost 4pm I arrived to the hotel that the airline pays for stopovers longer than 9 hours but they have to be less than 24.
Many people doubt when booking a flight with Turkish Airlines because of the stopover in Istanbul but they always offer either a tour around the city or the hotel stay if your stop is at night. The process to get this benefit is very simple you just need to go to the Hotel Desk and present the boarding pass for the next flight and that's it! They will provide transportation to your hotel and they also pick up the next morning! The service is excellent!
The hotel I was staying in was a little far away from Instanbul city center so I had to take a taxi to get to Sultanahmet Square because this was the departure place for the city I had booked.
I did the city tour with Big Bus, because I had already tried this type of tour while I was in Paris, basically they take you to all the main places in the city and you can hop on and off in all the stops you want. The ticket is valid for all that day. I wasn't able to hop off in any of the stops because I took the last tour of that day. But it was a good way to see a lot of the city in such a short amount of time.
Once I finished the tour I was in Sultanahmet Square again, I tooked a few pictures of Aya Sophia and the Blue Mosque, which are completely stunning! And after that I looked for a place to drink some typical turkish tea. I love drinking tea so this was a must for my visit in Istanbul.  I had turkish tea with Baklava, which is a typical turkish dessert. Very delicious but a little bit to sweet for my taste.
The last thing I did in Istanbul was to have dinner in a very nice restaurant near the square, I didn't walk away that much from it because I was a bit afraid of getting lost, but this place was so lovely! The people from this restaurant spoke spanish and they were very warm and friendly. I ate some typical turkish chesse plate, which was amazing! And they were really kind to call me a taxi to get back to my hotel.
So, I wasn't able to do that much stuff in Istanbul but those 20 hours were enough for me to take a look at this incredible city, enjoy the taste of the turkish tea and their sweets and also to experience the kindness of the people! Hope you like this photodiary!
