Life update: Why I Have Left My Office Job?
I always try not to write very personal posts but in this case I thought it was appropiate to do so, since I have been through major changes in my life recently and probably this will be something that may be reflected on the blog in the following days. That's why I would like to give you some background and share a little bit of my story.
As the title says, I have recently left my 7 years office job and this was one of the hardest choices I have made in my life. One can always think people who leave their jobs to follow their dreams are so lucky but the truth is that is not an easy thing to do. It really took me a lot of effort and time thinking about it, because even though I was absolutely sure that I didn't want to do that kind of job anymore, there were a lot of things about my life at the office that I liked. It's very nice and comfortable to have a routine, to see the same people everyday that are actually your friends and to have that economic security and independance.
So, why did I choose to leave my office job? Well, the main reason was because it wasn't at all related to what I have studied. I'm a journalist and I wasn't doing that at the office. That was one of the main reasons why I have started this blog. Plus, even though I loved the company I have worked for, I came to a point in which, after trying several times, I couldn't move to a new position and I couldn't continue doing the same thing.
Therefore, after thinking about it carefully, I have decided to leave it. I have decided to move and switch things because if I wanted to stop feeling stuck I had to start somewhere and, in all this thinking, I realized that I really enjoy writing, I really love creating content and thinking about new things to post here on the blog but I never had enough time for it because of my office job.
So the idea is to start dedicating more of my time and efforts to the blog and to doing what I love. I still don't have an exact plan in regards to my career but I'm sure I will find many opportunities maybe not in the traditional media, but I really feel like this is the best moment to be a writer and content creator because of all the new digital platforms that are available right now and that give us the opportunity to share our vision and our voice. You know how people say when one door closes another one opens for us and I really trust on that right now :)
perfect!
