Enjoying the Weekend at Maksimir Park

One of the first places I went to visit in this second stay in Zagreb was Maksimir park. This was my number one priority because last time I was here, I didn't know about this beautiful and natural spot, that is pretty close to the city centre and I was very excited to see it with my own eyes.
Maksimir park is situated more or less 3 kilometres away from the centre and it's very easy to reach with the tram but I decided to get there walking because that is the most practical way for me to exercise a little bit while being here. So, I went to the park on my first Sunday in the city because it was such a perfect sunny day and, for me, it was impossible not to go there to enjoy the nature with such a lovely day.
When I finally arrived after half an hour walking I realised that many people had the same idea, the park was full of locals walking their dogs, running, enjoying some time with their children. It's like the typical activity of the people here in Zagreb to visit Maksimir park on the weekends when the sun is shining. But still, it wasn't crowded at all. Like the rest of the city, in Maksimir there was also movement and a good vibrant atmosphere but the park is so huge you can easily find your own way to a more quiet place to sit there and relax.
Inside the park, there are some beautiful lakes which were completely frozen the day I visited it and that was something very especial for me to see.
Also, there is the entrance to the zoo and that's why it is a very popular plan for families to visit the park and the zoo.
As I said before, the park is huge and I was only able to visit part of it, but I still think it is an incredible place to visit and it's great that is so close to the city centre. I'm sure I will be visiting it again to take a look at the rest but meanwhile please enjoy these beautiful pictures! :)
