Guest Post: 4 Beauty Choices You Might Regret in the Future

It seems like wherever we look, there are new ways we can improve our bodies and take them one step closer to perfection. And while we all know very well that perfection is unattainable, we still like to feel like we are doing all we can to look as good as possible. But what happens when a procedure that was supposed to make us beautiful goes wrong? Well, instances aren’t that common, but there are some procedures that we might just regret doing down the line, even if we are satisfied with the results that we see at the moment.

Over-dyed hair

Who doesn’t love playing around with different colors and trends with a body part so expendable as hair? There’s always the good old “It will grow back!”, as if we are really ready to wait for years to get our hair to a decent state. The biggest problem with hair dyeing is the bleaching part. A lot of colors require hair to be bleached before they are applied, and bleaching is just about the worst thing you can do to your hair. This especially goes for Australian girls and other women that spend a lot of time in sunny weather, as direct sunlight will make the hair even lighter, dryer and more brittle. Do yourself a favor and try to stick to colors that don’t require bleaching, and if you absolutely don’t want to miss out on it, use a lot of nourishing masks when you wash your hair and sun protection when you go out.

Tanning to oblivion

Everyone likes to have a bit of a tan going on. It makes the body look more toned, gives us a healthy glow and overall makes us look like we’ve just stepped off a beach. But getting the tan is a whole different story. Let’s first start with fake tans. Whether you spray, smear or drop, artificial tans that you apply over your skin can end up going off in blotches, leaving you with a patchy tan. Secondly, they can permanently stain your skin – but not in a good way. Next, if you are going the natural route and tanning on the beach, you will get a healthy tan – but only if you’re careful. Overexposure to constant sun, like it happens in Australia, leaves girls with sun spots all over their bodies and pigmentation removal is definitely sought after. To avoid this, always put on sunscreen and only spend time in the direct sun during mornings and evenings. Try to completely avoid tanning beds, because they have continuously been proven to increase risks of melanoma and different types of skin cancer.

Eyebrow tattoos

Before we had microblading – which is a lighter version of makeup tattooing – we had full-on eyebrow tattooing, which is still used today. There is no need to mention that tattoos are permanent, and one little mistake on an obvious spot like the middle of your face can be quite disastrous. So if you really want to permanently fill in your eyebrows, wear the look drawn on with a pencil for a few days first and see how you like it before committing to it, and then go for microblading, which is only semi-permanent and will fade over time.

Face fillers

Everything from your lips to your cheekbones can now be poked and filled with a variety of solutions to make them look full, plump and symmetrical. But with the rise in demand, there have been more and more places popping up where people who are very far from professionals administer these fillers – which can be very dangerous if not handled properly. After all, botox is the most deadly chemical in the world. So if you don’t want to end up with lips that burst open, cheeks that run down your face and a forehead that looks like you got stung by a bee, make sure you visit professionals and ask for other options to get your desired look. There are plenty more ways to look young than filling your face with chemicals.

Monthly Favorites: March

Monthly Favorites March

Yes, we are already in a new month so it's time for another Monthly Favorites post! During the last month, I was really loving some new items I bought and I thought I would share them with you. So, let's get started right away! ;)

1- St. Ives Exotic Naturals Body Lotion/Cream

I have mentioned before that I'm not very good at maintaining a skin care routine when it comes to my body, I'm very consistent with my face but with the rest of my skin I was the worst really. I was using a shower cream which was very good and practical but last month I decided to try a new product. I'm talking about the St. Ives Exotic Naturals body lotion with coconut milk and orchid extract. I'm not going to lie, the biggest motivation for me to buy this product was the absolutely delicious scent it has! Imagine the combination of coconut and orchid, is so sweet and it stays on your skin for quite a long time.
Apart from the scent, I also love that the texture is really lightweight, it absorbs very quickly and it leaves a fresh sensation on your skin.
I have been using it non-stop since I bought it last month so it is definitely a favorite that deserves to be here.

2- Garnier Fructis Oil Repair 3 Fortifying Mask

If you remember my hair routine post, you know that I have started using the shampoo from this Garnier line and I was loving it. After trying that one and having such a good experience with it, I decided to buy some other products from the Oil Repair 3 range.
The fortifying hair mask is designed to repair, seal and nourish the hair and it contains fruit concentrate along with olive and argan oils. I have been using this mask twice a week and it's helping my hair to look healthier and nourished. It also has a very fruity and sweet scent which makes it very enjoyable to apply and that is always a plus for me.

3- Universo Garden Angels Tea Tree Oil Treatment Balm

This treatment balm is made of a very interesting mix of essential oils, such as lavender, lemon and, of course, tea tree oil to help in the treatment of acne and imperfections.
What I love about this product is that you apply it just in the areas of your face where you have spots and it completes the drying process. So, I think it's a very good addition to my skincare routine for those days when I'm a little bit break out. The results so far, have been very positive so I thought I would include it in my monthly favorites too.

So, these were all the products I'm loving at the moment, I hope you like this post and I would love to know which are your favorite products right now! ;)

My Hair Routine 2018

The beginning of a new year is the best moment to set up new routines. We are in the mood for change and for a fresh start. So we try to create a new healthy food routine, a new workout and exercise routine and we also do the same thing with our beauty, skincare and hair routine.
So, I thought it was a great idea to show you all the products I'm currently using on my hair as well as my hair care routine. Some of these products I have already mentioned here on the blog because they are incredible and I have been using them throughout last year and some of them are completely new.
Without further do, let's begin!

Shampoo & Conditioner:

For my shampoo and conditioner, I normally like to alternate different products because I have the feeling that if I use the same products all the time, it's like my hair gets used to them and then it doesn't respond to their properties. I would really love to know if that is something that you also do, or if it's just my idea and it doesn't have any kind of logic at all haha :P
At the moment, I'm using the Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo and Conditioner because I tried them once with a sample and they did magic to my hair. They are extremely gentle with my hair and they have some amazing ingredients, such as pure coconut and jojoba oils, which helps a lot to moisturize and strengthen the hair. This line of products is suitable for all hair types and it's silicone-free and paraben-free.
They are a bit pricey for a shampoo and conditioner but I think they are very high quality and they give very good results.

On the other hand, when I don't use the Kiehl's products, I'm using the Garnier Fructis Oil Repair 3 Shampoo, which I just recently bought and the OGX Kukuí Oil Conditioner. Both of them are full of natural oils, including olive, avocado and argan oils, which help to repair, nourish and smooth the hair.
The OGX Conditioner I bought it while I was traveling so once I run out of this product I won't be able to buy it again but I guess I will probably buy the Conditioner from the same Garnier line because I'm very satisfied with their shampoo and it's also very affordable.

Hair Mask:

Twice a week I normally apply a hair mask because I have a very dry and frizzy hair and I tend to use a lot of styling tools to make it look something neat. So, to try to restore my hair a little bit from all the heat of those tools, I use the Salon Essentials Smart Therapy Substance Caviar Repair Mask.
This mask is designed for very fragile and dry hair and it helps to repair, nourish and protect it. This product is enriched with caviar extract and I have been using this mask for the last 5 months. Every time I apply it, I notice that my hair looks healthier, softer and it has a lot more shine.

Serum:

After I finished washing my hair and everything I normally apply a little bit of serum to my hair. I apply it all the time, especially when I need to style it with my hair straightener or any other tool so that it has some kind of protection against the heat.
At the moment, I'm using the Kiehl's Smoothing Oil-Infused Leave-In Concentrate, which I received as a birthday present from my friends and I can't stop telling you how much I love this product!!
It contains Argan and Babassu oils (by the way, I have no idea what exactly is Babassu but it sounds very nourishing haha), it's paraben free and it's designed especially for dry and frizzy hair, which is exactly my type of hair.
This concentrate works as a nourishing and smoothing treatment if you apply it to damp hair and it also helps you with the styling. But also you can apply it to dry hair to give you extra softness and shine. I use it both ways, all the time when my hair is still wet and in case I feel like I need it, I apply it also when my hair is dry.

Overnight Treatment:

This is an extra step that I have included in my hair routine last year. I loved the idea of overnight treatment products that you apply before going to bed and that they work their magic while you are sleeping, so when I saw this product from L'Occitane I knew I have to try it! It's called Overnight Repairing Concentrate and it has 5 essential oils: Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange, Lavander (my favorite), Geranium and Angelica.  There is no way that my hair doesn't benefit from this product, it only has good natural stuff in it!
So, I just apply 1 pump of it to my hair before going to bed, I try to distribute it through my lengths and that's all!! This concentrate will restore the hair fiber and reduce split ends while you are sleeping.

That's it for my hair routine!! Hope it was useful and let me know what do you think about these products? Is there any of them that you are currently using? Also, if you have any product recommendations I would love to know because there is nothing I enjoy more than to discover new hair products! ;)

New Haircut!

It has been a while since I went to the hair stylist so I was really thinking about it for the last two months. I wasn't thinking about doing anything crazy but I really wanted to go back to something a little bit shorter. So last week, I went to a new hair salon and at first, I said I wanted the same kind of hairstyle I had but shorter, in order to cut all of those damaged and split ends. The trick of my hairstyle is that it was a little bit longer on the front, so I asked exactly for that. I like to have the front part a little bit longer because I believe it makes my face look thinner. Plus I think it's edgy and very elegant.
But the hairstylist didn't exactly make that difference. Now my hair is shorter and more polished but the front part of it is not as long as I wanted and the difference in the length with the back part is very subtle.
Anyway, I'm happy that my hair looks healthier and more put together but I'm sure I will be going to another hairstylist in the future to try to get the exact style I was looking for. Hope you like it :)

New Hairstyle Routine

Now that I have changed my hairstyle recently I also had to change my styling routine because as I have some kind of wavy hair it was a little bit more challenging to have good results with what I was normally doing. So, I only had to add one more step to get the perfect look.
First of all, before doing anything to my hair I apply a serum from Garnier called Super Oleo 8 which I bought in Brazil last year. I really like this serum because it has Argan and Camelia oil and protects my hair from the heat, also helps me to control the frizz and gives the hair a shinny look.

After that, I dry my hair with my hair dryer from Remington, which I bought many years ago and I love it because it really helps me to style my hair without having any damage, I have been using it every day and didn't notice any negative aspects on my hair. With just these two steps my new hairstyle looks good but a little bit messy and as I like it more polished I had to add an extra step, which is hair straightening.

For that purpose, I recently bought the Remington Shine Therapy straightener and I'm loving it because it allows to control the heat from 150 degrees up to 230. I normally use it in 170 degress and it feels really gentle on the hair. Another great aspect is that I only need to pass it just once or twice to every lock to get it really straight so this allows me to finish very quickly, in about 10 minutes I can have all my hair done.

Hair Review: L'Oréal Elvive Kera-Liso Mascarilla

I am always up to trying new hair products and a few weeks ago I bought this new instant mask from L'Oréal Elvive because it looked very promising on the shop. It is indicated to get a straight hair and what's most important for me, without frizz for up to 48 hours.
When I use it for the first time, I noticed the really nice and sweet scent this mask has and also it has a very light texture. When I applied it, I felt my hair very hydrated and nourished and also it was getting more straight even before I got out of the shower.
I was very happy when I saw that the good results remained after my hair was dry, my hair was neat, without frizz and was easy to control and it lasted for the entire day so I'm very satisfied with this product. Have you try it?

This week I was invited to the exclusive presentation of Kérastase's new line of products called Résistance Thérapiste. This line was designed and developed with the aim of providing a new life to damaged hair. The main goal of Thérapiste products is to give your hair a second chance.
During the presentation, the Kérastase team explained that there were up to 4 different stages of damaged hair, the first two stages are related to the damage caused by physical sources, for example the constant ironing and brushing. And then the stages 3 and 4 were even more deep, because the damage was caused by physical and chemical sources, like for instance hair coloring.
The Thérapiste line targets this particular group, the one that needs more help, with 4 products: the Bain Thérapiste, a balm shampoo that protects the hair from the friction and regenerates its fiber; the Soin Premier Thérapiste, which is an inverse conditioner to use before the shampoo, in order to get even more protection to the hair fiber, especially for thin hair; in third place, the Masque Thérapiste, which is perfect to use after the shampoo in order to recover the hair from extreme damage, and last but not the least the Double Sérum Thérapiste which protects the hair from the heat and seals the hair ends for a complete result.
Finally, another thing that I loved about this new line was the campaign, I thought it was a very original idea to compare the problems that we normally have with our hair with the problems that we may bring up to the therapist and I think it's a very interesting message that we can recognize the ways that we are damaging our hair, accept these bad habits and still be able to give a second chance to our hair and why not to our life too:)
I share with you some pictures form the event and also the videos from the campaign, hope you like them!

Esa soy yo, posteando en Instagram sobre el evento / That's me posting some pictures on Instagram

During the event there was a very interesting talk from the psycologist Gabriel Rolón

New Haircut

Last week I went to cut my hair, it was like 6 months since I didn't cut it because it was so long that I didn't realize that it was growing that much! I have a huge amount of hair, a lot of volume and frizz and, in general, I was just going to the salon in order to reduce the volume and mantain the lenght. But this last time I got it a little bit shorter and now I feel like it's too short, but what do you think?

Hair Review: Herbal Essences Al Desnudo

A while ago I was looking for a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner because after I started dyeing my hair it got really dry and with a lot of frizz. So one day, I was at the supermarket and saw these products. They were very interesting because the are free of parabens and silicones so I decided to give it a try and started with the conditioner.
The conditioner was great, with a soft texture and a very nice mint scent, I got some awesome results, my hair was moisturized and soft, with less frizz and more shine.
After that I definitely wanted to try the shampoo too and I got the same good results, so I am very happy with these products, they are very affordable and are doing some very good effect on my hair.

Hair Review: Macadamia Natural Oil

It's been a while since I wanted to try the products of this brand because they are sulfate-free and paraben-free and they have macadamia oil which has had some good results in my hair in the past. I decided to try the Rejuvenating Shampoo and the Moisturizing Rinse now because since I dyed my hair it got really dry and I needed to hydrate my hair again.
The shampoo is very light and it has a very soft scent. It cleans the hair properly but without being too agresive on it. Then the Moisturizing Rinse hydrates and leaves my hair soft and shining.
The only thing that I didn't like that much is that my hair is not so controllable and neat, but this always happens to my hair with the moisturizing products, they hydrate my hair but they don't help that much in leaving it more straight and controllable. That's why I like to change my hair products periodically in order to keep it hydrated and healthy.

Hair Review: Schwarzkopf Oil Miracle Shampoo

It's time for a new Hair Review! As I have explained before I liked the idea of having this section on my blog because I love to try different hair products. I have a big amount of hair and also a lot of volume so I usually go for hair products with oil to make my hair smooth and to prevent frizz.
I was using the shampoo and conditioner with argain oil from Black Diamond but after using these products for a while my hair started to be less smooth and controllable. In addition I tend to alternate shampoo so that my hair doesn't get used to a certain product. So that's why I decided to try the Oil Miracle Shampoo from Schwarzkopf which is similar to the one from Black Diamond because both have the oil component.
The pros of this shampoo are that it still has the good properties of argan oil, it has a really nice and soft scent and I feel it a little bit less heavy than the one from Black Diamond.
My hair is shinning and it has again less frizz, so for me the Schwarzkopf shampoo is a very good option to alternate with other products and keep my hair healthy and looking good.

Hair Review: Schwarzkopf Smooth Shine Shampoo and Moisture Kick Treatment

This month there was a very interesting promotion in Las Margaritas, a great store full of beauty products which I love because it has a lot of professional products. There was 50% discount on some of Schwarzkopf hair products and since I am always willing to try on new things for my hair, I decided to buy something. The sales person recomended these two products for me. First, the Smooth Shine Shampoo, because I was looking for something for my rebel hair. This shampoo does smooth a lot the hair but in a very natural way. It doesn't straighten the hair too much. Also it gives a lot of shine to the hair.
On the other hand, the Moisture Kick treatment is really interesting, since it has the texture of a mousse and it is very light. At the begining I found it weird because the sales person told me to use it and then dry my hair directly. However when I read the instructions it said that it was needed to wash it out after 5 minutes. So I wasn't very convinced when I first used it. I seemed that my hair was heavy and sticky. But I continued using it and I got better results, I think that the first time I applied a little too much of the product. Just yesterday I used a little bit less and my hair looked incredible, it was very moisturised and soft.
Schwarzkopf products are a bit expensive but when we have these kind of promotions is a good chance to buy them.
