Advent Calendars Wishlist

Advent Calendar Wishlist 2020

Advent calendars are something relatively new to me since it's not common in Argentina, the country where I come from. There is not an Advent tradition there so I never thought about buying an Advent calendar until I moved to Croatia.

I feel like it's such a nice and special way to get ready for Christmas and it makes the holiday season so much better because it's not only one day but a whole month that you celebrate and receive little present until Christmas day.

Advent calendars come in all shapes and forms, you have the traditional chocolate ones, the makeup, and skincare ones, which are definitely my favorites, but you can also find tea advent calendars and also gin and tonic ones. There is one option perfect for everyone and I think that is why they are so popular.

I think in these uncertain times in which we are not sure how the holiday season is going to be like, having a little ritual that gives us comfort and a bit of happiness every day sounds like a great idea. Therefore, I wanted to put up this wishlist with the Advent calendar I would like to shop this season.

High end

The Dior Beauty Advent Calendar has to be my ultimate advent calendar dream, not only because I love Dior beauty products but also because the design of this calendar is absolutely dreamy and stunning. It's like an actual piece of art!

The Net-a-Porter 25 day Beauty Advent Calendar is the perfect option for the luxury skincare lover. This one has a very elegant and sleek design in black and white which looks really chic.

More affordable

L'Occitane is one of those Advent calendar classics that we wait for it every year. This 2020 Signature Advent Calendar has a great selection of products, and it has a good price point but they also have a luxury version which is a little bit more expensive, so it great they offer different options for every budget.

The Douglas Advent Calendar has a very cute and simple design but it really caught my attention, I like the around the world theme and I also think it includes a good selection of different brands and beauty products, so it's a great option if you would like to try more than one brand.

The Revolution Advent Calendar is without a doubt an excellent option for the makeup fanatics because it includes some great makeup goodies from the brand at a very affordable price. This is another one that I'm seriously considering getting because I think it offers great value for the money.

I think that would be all for my Advent Calendar wishlist, I will make sure to let you know if I buy any of these. Which one is your favorite? Or if you have any other advent calendar in your wishlist let me know :)

How I fell back in love with sending cards?

I remember when I was a child I used to love received cards from my birthday. I loved receiving nice words from my friends and being able to re-read them again whenever I felt like it. For some reason, that habit was somehow lost. People in my home country Argentina are not so keen on writing and sending cards anymore for birthdays, weddings or Christmas and I really feel like it's a very nice thing to do. To take the time to write something nice to the people we love, to tell them how thankful we are for having them in our lives. Sometimes only that is a gift on itself.

When I moved last year to Croatia, I have noticed that people here a little bit more formal than Argentinians, so it's very common that your friends write cards for you whenever they have the opportunity. So since I have come here, I have fallen back in love with writing cards and to send them to my family back home. This is my way to be present with them as well regardless of the distance.

Christmas is definitely the perfect time to reflect upon all the nice people we have in our lives and it's also the perfect chance to express our love and gratitude to them. It doesn't matter if it's for a friend, for our family, our partner or a very thoughtful coworker, it's always a nice exercise to share some positivity, light, and love in this holiday period.

I feel like printed cards are a very nice detail nowadays when everything is digitalized but in this globalized world in which we are living, sometimes we would need to send cards to different corners of the planet, which is definitely my case. So I found it very convenient that a service like Paperless Post exists because it has helped me a lot in sending all my Christmas cards to my friends and family in a very fast and practical way.

Also, I really like that their concept is a little bit different from the regular e-cards we can find online. You can find cards with incredibly beautiful and chic designs by world-famous designers and with the benefit that you can send them through the web. Something that I find very practical when you perhaps don't know the physical address of all your friends but you have an email address for sure ;) Their idea is that you have the same experience of receiving a printed card but in a digital form, something I find very smart and innovative.

In addition, this is a very eco-friendly option because there is no paper involved and you don't have to worry that your cards get lost in the mail, which is something that may happen sometimes with the regular mail service.

So I would like to invite you all to express yourself during this holiday season, to be thankful for those amazing people we are lucky to have in our lives and tell them how much they mean to us with a very nice Christmas card.

Why it is OK to go back to a place you already visited

Why it is ok to visit the same place

With summer just around the corner for many of you who are in the northern hemisphere, I can imagine that you are already thinking about your next vacations and when planning this trip you may be faced with this question: Do I visit a new place or maybe I could go back to that city that I have enjoyed so much last year?

We are currently living in a society that is always looking for completing tasks on a list and sometimes looks like traveling has become one more task, in which we need to tick all the places in our bucket list but it doesn't have to be that way. That's why in today's post I would like to talk about the reasons why it is OK to go back to a place that you have already visited in the past and I'm going to share with you a little bit about my personal experience visiting Split for the second time last year.

One may think that visiting the same place again it's pointless with so many beautiful spots on this planet but it doesn't actually mean that you are loosing of everything else just because you chose a city you already know. It could be a great opportunity to explore and discover more of a place you already love! That leads me to the first reason:

1- You can discover new things of that place

When I went to Split for the second time, I had the chance to explore a lot more because I have already visited the main touristic places (you can read everything about my first trip here) so, this time I went to a new beach, I tried different coffee places and restaurants and I even went up to the bell tower which was something I didn't do before and it was totally amazing. I also had the chance to take more pictures and to explore more of the area than during my first visit. That was the main reason why I wanted to go back to Split because I wanted to visit the islands that were close by (for example, Brač island and the amazing Zlatni Rat beach) and that allowed me to have a completely different experience while staying in the same city.

2- You will experience a nice sense of familiarity

I know it's great to go to a place for the very first time and feel completely surprised by all the new things your eyes are seeing but when you visit a city that you already know you will get a nice sense of familiarity with the place. You will recall all the amazing moments you had there in the past and you will also feel super comfortable moving around there because you already know the place! So that's great!
In my case, when I was in Split again I remembered all the fun moments along with the great people I met there and that instantly put me in a great mood during those days. What's even better is that in the second visit I also had so much fun just like in the first time ;)

3- You can relax a lot more

This point is not so obvious but I think that is key. When you are visiting a place for the first time you are likely trying to visit all the main spots and do all the important activities in a few days, before moving to the next destination, which can make you feel a little bit stressful and in a constant rush. But, when you go back to a place you have already visited you can just relax and enjoy it because you already did all the main touristic things, you don't have to worry about how to move around the city, or about getting lost, you already know where everything is located. You are a little bit like a local there and that is a great sensation ;)

In this second visit to Split, I finally touched the feet of the Gregory of Nin Statue, people say it brings you good luck

So the point of this post is to show you that if you feel like you want to go to a place that you already visited last year and that you loved it, that's completely fine! If it makes you happy, just go and don't worry about missing the opportunity of going somewhere else. You will have plenty of opportunities to visit many incredible places, the important thing is to enjoy and do what feels right for you!

I even feel like I loved Split more after I went the second time because I was able to establish a different connection with the city. In the first time, the days went by so quickly with all the activities I wanted to do that when I went there the second time, I felt like there was a lot I didn't saw because I was in a rush.  Therefore, I totally feel it's OK to go back to a place for the second time if you want to! In my experience it was great!

But now I would like to know your thoughts on this topic, do you always go to a new place or have you visited a city more than once? How did you feel? I would love to know your experience ;)

Holiday Season Outfits Inspiration

We are almost in December and we are quickly approaching the Holiday season and all those year-end parties so I was browsing for some inspiration to share with you and help you find your perfect outfit for this time of the year.
So for today's post, I wanted to show a new store I have just discovered, which is called FashionMia. This store has a very good selection of dresses for every occasion and I have found some very nice options for the holiday parties I'm sure all of you will be having! Also, this store offers a great variety of cute plus size dresses so it really has an option for everyone!
Between my favorite dresses from FashionMia, I have found very elegant dresses with lace and flower details, a stunning long lavender blue dress and a gorgeous black and gold sequin dress which I think would be the perfect look for New Year's Eve.

I have also found some very nice casual dresses for every day. I'm in love with this beautiful shirt dress, I think it has a very nice shape and I love the colors. Also, another favorite of mine is this incredibly pretty sweater dress with the color of the season: red! The color looks so bright and Christmassy!

In addition, for all of you who are having cold days now, I know I was posting a lot lately about summer essentials but I have also found a great selection of womens winter coats on this website, which I highly recommend you to check. Winter coats are also a very important item to wear during this Holiday season. My favorite ones have a very classic style and neutral tones so that they are easier to incorporate into your winter wardrobe. But I also needed to include one coat with, again, the color of the season which is obviously red. think they look very elegant, chic and they will for sure keep you warm during this colder days.

So, these were my favorite pieces from FashionMia, I hope you like them as much as I do!! Please let me know which item is your favorite, I would love to know! :)
