Guest Post: How to Style Your Home Like an Interior Designer

How to Style Your Home Like an Interior Designer

Striking that perfect balance between different styles and making your home look modern may be quite tricky if you’re not an experienced interior designer. However, this doesn’t mean that you should just give up on the idea of styling your own home. Instead, make sure to follow the latest trends, see what goes best together and try to find your unique way to incorporate all of that into your own home design. In order to help you out with this, we’ve prepared a list of some useful advice and ideas. Take a look and let the redecoration begin!

Be careful with colors

Choosing the right colors for your home is probably the toughest part of the entire redecoration process since you can easily make some serious mistakes. First of all, you should remember that only because you love orange, for example, it doesn’t mean that you should paint the whole house in it. Instead, it’s wiser to go for a more neutral base and then add a pop of orange here and there. Furthermore, if your rooms are rather small, we would recommend opting for lighter hues like beige or grey, since they can create the optical illusion of spaciousness.

Be careful with colors

Let the sunshine in

The presence of natural light is what the majority of world-famous designers consider essential in their projects. So, instead of installing dozens of light fixtures in your living room, opt for bigger windows and let the light in. Not only will this help you save on your electricity bills, but you’ll feel much better and healthier. After all, it’s well-known that natural light can improve our mood significantly and has a positive influence on our productivity and concentration as well.

Make your kitchen warm and inviting

You may have concentrated mostly on your living room, but your kitchen will require a lot of work as well. You can start by installing exquisite bamboo flooring which is very low-maintenance and can help create that unique warm feeling. Additionally, don’t forget to equip your kitchen with high-tech appliances, since they will definitely make your cooking much easier and more enjoyable. Even though choices are abundant, we advise you to opt for one quality brand and stick to it. This way, if you, let’s say, go for the amazingAEG appliances, you won’t have to waste time looking for different service numbers since you’ll immediately know whom to call. Finally, think about adding a nice hanging pot rack to your kitchen design as well. Not only is it extremely useful, but it serves as great decoration as well.

Go green

Going green is the home decor trend which has been present for quite some time and it seems that its popularity won’t fade away any time soon. So, if you want to consider yourself modern and environmentally-conscious, now it’s the perfect time for you to bring in some greenery into your living space. For instance, you can hang some artistic pots around your living room or go for those oversized ones which are perfect in case you like the idea of having a few tropical trees as that final touch which will tie the whole room together. However, aside from focusing only on the aesthetic appeal, it’s always wise to opt for some low-maintenance plants which won’t dry out that easily.

Personality is the key ingredient

Last but not least, great interior designers tend to add something unique and always strive to leave their mark. So, if you want your house to look absolutely special, don’t be afraid to show off your personality and express your creative side. Following trends is only the first step of the process which should serve you to get inspired and come up with some innovative solutions. Lastly, if you are an artist or have some hidden talents for painting or sculpturing, don’t hesitate to display your work and show everybody how rich your personality is.

Personality is the key ingredient

As you can see, you don’t need to be a famous designer to be able to turn your average-looking house into a fabulous sanctuary. All it takes is a bit of creativity and ability to look at your space with fresh eyes. Good luck and enjoy your new home!

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!! I hope you had spent a beautiful time with your family and loved ones! :) I wanted to do a quick post just to tell you this and to thank you for all your support throughout the year!! It means a lot to me!
Apart from that, I would like to share with you some snaps from my Christmas Eve, I had a nice and pleasant time with my parents and my dog. We enjoyed pasta for dinner and then some delicious nuts, sweets, and pastries.

In regards to my outfit, I wore something casual because I was staying at home so I decided to wear my favorite jeans from Zara, with a top I have had for quite a long time but I really love it. It's from a brand called Rapsodia and I picked it because of the red color which I think looked perfect for this festive occasion. On my feet I wore my favorite black sandals from H&M, they are so comfortable and stylish and I thought they looked perfect with the rest of the outfit.

What do you think of my Christmas Eve look? What did you wear? I would love to know! :)

Cool Map Decoration by Modern Map Art

I couldn't be more excited to share this post with you because it was a long time since I have received this gorgeous map of Buenos Aires from the lovely people at Modern Map Art and I really wanted to show you how cool this looks like but the truth is that it took me a while to find the perfect frame for it. The printed map is so beautiful that I couldn't just put it on any frame, that is the reason why the print was sitting in my room waiting until I found it and I'm so happy I took my time on that search because now it looks even more beautiful!
Anyway, going back to the print, it was sent to me by the people from Modern Map Art, they are a brand who makes extremely cool map designs in posters to decorate your home or office, pillows for your bed and even phone cases! This is without a doubt a great gift idea for any traveller friend you may have (or even yourself) because you can choose from many different cities in the world, and you can even pick your favourite country or your favourite mountain map, perfect for the ski lovers as well! Also, you can pick between different colour options and sizes for your printed map so it matches and fits perfectly with the wall you would like to decorate.

It's a great and very original idea to have a nice memory at home of your favourite city, or your hometown, the country you visited when you travelled abroad for the first time but in a way that looks very chic, trendy and sophisticated.
In my case, I received the map of the city I live in, Buenos Aires, and I picked the white version because I think the lighter version of the map matches better with my home office space, where I decided to put it. Plus, on the white version, the river was painted in blue and to me, it looks nicer. Anyway, the black version of the map also looks very elegant and chic, so it was a hard decision to make.

All of these details, such as the city or country you would like to choose, the colour and the size are very easy to define on their website. Everything is very clearly specified for each product and the shopping experience is very enjoyable. I would only point out for those living outside of US that the sizes are expressed in inches instead of centimetres, so keep that in mind when ordering your print.
Another great aspect about shopping in Modern Map Art is that the delivery of the product was extremely fast! I was totally surprised by how fast my print arrived home and of course, it was in perfect conditions and it looks exactly as it does on the website.
I'm very pleased with the quality and the design of this poster and I think it looks perfect in my home office space. In addition, I'm sure it will inspire me when I'm working on the blog just by taking a look at it. I like this idea that much that I'm really thinking about getting another poster with the printed map of Zagreb which is my favourite city in the world!! What do you think? Do you like this map design? Which city would you pick? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know! :)

*Modern Map Art sent me this printed map for me to review. However, all opinions are mine.

Decoration: My Home Office Space

Today I want to share with you something a little bit different, I was working for some time ago in creating a very nice and comfortable home office space and I finally managed to organize it! Lately, I have been working a lot more from home, because of my job but also because of the blog so I think it's very important to have a nice and organized place where you can enjoy your working hours.
So, let's start first with the desk. This desk was a gift from my parents and I love it! It's big and it has a lot of space to store all my stuff so it's very easy for me to keep everything organized. Plus I think it's very elegant and it's gives me a sense of warmth.

Then, on top of the desk I put the beautiful latern I bought in Mostar to add some color and also because it's nice to have some light while you're working or studying.

In addition, I put this cool motivation quote to keep my thoughts positive and also I added some stones because I think they are beautiful but they also help with your energy.

On the other side, I keep some post-it because they are quite uselful and you never know when you're going to need them and last but not the least I keep all my notebooks and my agenda to write down all the important stuff.

Of course, this is also the place where I use my laptop all the time. I hope you liked my little home office space. I think I will be adding some other things in the future but I hope this post gave you some decoration ideas. ;)

Deco findings in Wal Mart

Supermarkets are a great place to find some interesting and affordable decorations pieces. In my case, I usually buy some decoration stuff in Wal Mart, so I thought of preparing a post to show the beautiful things I got from Wal Mart and how I use them.

En primer lugar, compré este fanal para velas que en realidad estoy usándolo para guardar mi maquillaje diario. / First of all, I bought this recipient for candles but I actually use it to store my daily make up.

Después compre este otro recipiente que creo que era para la cocina, como para guardar cereales o algo así pero lo estoy usando para guardar los discos de algodón que uso todos los días para limpiarme la piel. Además de ser muy práctico me parece que se ve muy bien. / Then I bought another recipient that I think was for the kitchen, to put cereals for example but I'm using it to store the cotton I use everyday to clean my skin. It is very practical and also I think it looks good.

También compré esta bandeja de vidrio parisina que estoy usando para poner todos mis productos de cuidado de la piel / I also bough this beautiful parisian plate which I'm using for keeping all my daily skin care products together.

Por último pero no menos importante, encontré este almohadón blanco increíble que es como de piel y que lo amo. / Last but not least, I found this incredible white faux fur pillow which I am in love with.
